Photo Stories Pixie Pixels is my photo blog.

Greenbucks is my Flickr account where blog photos are stored. I also have photos in this blog.

I use Canon point and shoot cameras (not necessarily cheap canon cameras). Sometimes people are surprised when they see me bring out my small camera. A lot of times when people see my photo blog or my other photos online, they ask what my camera is and get surprised when I tell them I use this small Canon A530 camera.

Sure, I know I need an upgrade already but there are other financial obligations I must fulfill and frankly, much as I want to have a new camera, that is at the bottom rung of the things I need.

I take photos for fun and if I decide to go up the ladder and be a professional (naks!) I’d be getting a bigger camera. I would need to take photos and use it to earn back my investment, :D

Children are drawn to horses and they would love to try riding on one or even riding in a calesa being pulled by a horse. There is something about horses and children that just click and it is not just a phase they go through because if this phase was encouraged, I’m sure these children will even grow to love the sports connected with horses.

According to Franklin Levinson, an authority in natural horsemanship training:

Horses, being naturally social and inclined to appropriate interaction with whoever is with them, are a perfect manifestation of nature for children to interact with, become empowered by and have an experience that expands their world immensely.

My children are no exception. When the nearby city park still had horses for horseback riding, we used to bring my then only child eldest daughter to experience riding on horses. We seriously considered enrolling her in horseback riding lessons but we didn’t have horse equipment.

I got some photos of them on a horse (but I think it’s in the EHD already) and they said they can’t wait to be on one soon. I hope we can grant their wish to ride on a horse again soon.

It’s been while since I posted a photo for Photo Hunters. I miss this weekly photo meme which I have been participating actively back in  2007.

For January 14th, the theme is CIRCULAR.

I thought of posting a photo of several stainless steel bracelets I took photo of but I decided to use this Christmas tree photo at the MIL’s house. Now this has a lot of circular, colorful and festive Christmas balls.

Christmas is just around the corner and I’m sure a lot of moms have started their shopping at this time of the month. For those who have limited budget and are on the look out for personal gifts/giveaways, I suggest digital scrapbooking.

I am fond of doing these wonderful digital scrapbook pages online and offline. I was able to publish several of these simple scrapbook pages in this blog:  sunflowers here, a dandelion here, Chocolate Hills in Bohol, my son’s birthday and another sunflower here.

I did all the above pages offline because I was able to download embellishments and papers a few years ago. I use Adobe Photoshop to put these together. Not really difficult but not too easy too since I don’t think I have it in me the creativity in putting on the pages what I have in mind, :D

You want to try digital scrapbooking to give as gifts for Christmas? Here is a free digital scrapbooking site for you. You can also make these as invitations, notepads and stationery. just create and print the pages!

I say this is more fun than just Facebook-ing. Enjoy creating beautiful pages and memories to savor!

Hmmm… this gave me an idea to try this with my students! :)

Cars are not just modes of transportation but symbolic representations of power, authority, status symbol and wealth.

I don’t think a CEO of a big company or a famous sports jock (or maybe even a congressman, ahem…) would want get caught driving a car that doesn’t match what he/she is “worth”. Sure, they’d probably use wheels for less for their cars’ accessories but… you know what I mean.

Here are a few SYMBOLIC emblems of cars that make heads turn when they are seen when they zip by ;)

CALLING ALL YOUNG PEOPLE WITH POSITIVE IDEAS aimed to promote health and wellness in their community: UNILAB Ideas Positive is inviting you to join their idea-generating contest on social marketing programs that will address, yes,  health and wellness issues.

Unilab Ideas Positive

Unilab Ideas Positive started last year because of the increase in problems affecting communities regarding hygiene and sanitation, nutrition, disease prevention and intervention, as well as environmental care and protection.

Through the Filipino trait of Bayanihan spirit,  that of working together to achieve a common goal, Unilab knows that these problems can be given solution when two or more teams or organizations work together.

Unilab aims to not just provide these youth groups with the venue for them to make themselves heard but to help them turn thier ideas into reality. The youth groups then are able to be more creative in shaping their ideals and sense of social purpose in looking for solutions with the problems they see regarding health and wellness in their communities.

Unilab Ideas Positive Award:

A seed fund worth PhP100,000 will be awarded to the winning team. This award money will be used for the implementation of the social marketing program for the communities they have chosen. The two runner-up groups will be given PhP75,000 for their programs.

Unilab Ideas Positive 2010 winner:

University of Asia and the Pacific’s (UA&P) Team Biggkas was last year’s winner. Their “farm in the city” concept, a hydroponics gardening program aimed to teach housewives in Barangay San Joaquin in Pasig City to have their own sustainable source of vegetables, was chosen. Last April, the moms were able to harvest lettuce and kangkong.

The local government of Pasig City has expressed a desire to replicate the same program in other barangays.

Unilab Ideas Positive includes these provinces for 2011: Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Bulacan and Rizal.
