Shelved under Me, My Family

Last month’s wedding in the family, my BIL’s, pushed through. Everyone was dressed up to the nines, so to speak, and one wouldn’t probably guess how much frenzy there was to make everyone look beautifully made up.

I even got my eyebrows trimmed for the first time, lol!

Hubby’s SIL designed all dresses worn by the female relatives which includes the gowns of the wedding entourage where my two kids were a part of. She is the the family’s fashion designer having designed a lot of wedding dresses including hers.

And no, I won’t post my photo here, :D

Brighten Smiles is the Christmas campaign of the year-long Dine to Smile project of Virlanie Foundation. The campaign aims to inform people about the street children under Virlanie Foundation’s care and how they can help these children have better lives.

Says Chef Suzette Montinola of La Cocina de Tita Moning, “I find the problem of street children in our country to be a very serious one.  It seems so wide and it often feels difficult to be able to come up with a solution to help others than just giving them something while they beg on the streets. I have heard many good things about Virlanie and feel that this is an organized and beneficial way of doing our part.”

Shelved under Me

This is it. I hate to admit but I am now sick with intestinal flu too.Tummy ache, check. Throwing up, double check. Ugh, the smell.

If there is one thing that I am thankful for, its my daughter feeling better. Had it been we are both having this now, I don’t know how we’d survive especially since we don’t have house help.

Just when I am up to my neck in deadlines and have a full schedule tomorrow, I get sick. I still have to read about those ATV parts, Diabetes Mellitus 2, sugar cookies and cupcake frosting.

I hope as for everything else that we have to be positive about, I can say “This too shall pass” and I really hope it’s gonna be SOON.

Off to bed for me.

Shelved under Health, My Family, Parenting

My youngest daughter didn’t go to school for two days. She has had intestinal flu.

It all started last Wednesday night when she woke up around midnight and threw up. Again and again until she felt too weak to move. We started giving her oral rehydration salt in her water though after she drinks a little, she runs to the bathroom again to throw up. Her tummy aches, she says and when the tummy is not aching, she has a headache.

It must be intestinal flu. There is a difference between intestinal flu or food poisoning.

What are the signs and symptoms of intestinal flu?

  • nausea and vomiting
  • diarrhea
  • loss of appetite
  • headache
  • low grade fever
  • abdominal cramps
  • abdominal pain
  • weakness

My poor daughter. She has lost a lot of weight since yesterday. Her shoulder blades are now visible and her eyes have dark circles. continue reading this entry »

Blog Blast for Peace

Everyone wants to have peace of mind, however brief the moment is. Amidst all the cacophony of stresses, toxicity, negativity and pessimism around us, still we struggle to balance everything for that little time we feel at peace with ourselves and the world around us.

Peace of mind is a state of mind. The road to achieving that peace of mind may either be a bumpy ride or a smooth one. That the acceptance of things  we can never change would be hard to come by, and the affirmation we are waiting for might never come, still we hope and wait for that sliver of chance to have a moment of peace of mind.

And when that chance comes, we savor the moment and prepare ourselves to go through the experience again.
