A few weeks from now, we will be having a fun run with friends. It has been some time when the kids and I joined a fun run called Mommy Milkshake.

This is a good excuse for me to get a new pair of running shorts. A new pair of running shoes would be great too but that would have to wait for now.

This fun run with friends is courtesy of a good friend and a godmother of the son, a speech language-pathologist who will be celebrating her ____th birthday. Happy birthday B!

Registration means bringing a sturdy toy to be donated to a government’s hospital rehabilitation center.

Can’t wait!

Sponsors for giveaways are welcomed, just let me know ;)

In my other blogs…

  • I had the chance to visit a rose farm called Island Rose
  • And we are busy with our school lessons and that our homeschooling blog is now called Elementary School Lessons (and yes! there are a few new updates which include test reviewers, yey!)

We are busy but still try to take time to smell the flowers :)

With university admissions tests in full swing, my students are in the thick of preparing themselves to take these tests and pass them. College admission tests preparation, like gmat prep, are scheduled way before the test dates are given.

I’m sure candidates for high school graduation like them and their parents (and their teachers too) are likewise experiencing these things: the anxiety, excitement, and asking the “what-if” questions. This is definitely the stage where they are given time to ponder the choices they have to make, not that they won’t be able to change these choices along the way.

Expectations are high but realistic goals should also be set. Plans A, B, C, D and even E should be well thought of. Should dreaming big take precedence over dreaming small or vice versa?

Should one say “Do your best but expect the worst?” How would the students with learning issues cope IF they get letters from the schools of their choice that bear bad news?

That I have to see and help deal with once the results are in. For now, all I want to do is encourage them to give their best shot.

I have three students going to college next school year. All three boys have been with me for more than ten years.

One of them is JEM, whom I have worked with since he was 4 and now he is 16 but I have not seen him for almost a year. This JEM always has a gadget attached to himself ;)

There is another JEM who has been with me since he is in second grade and now he is a candidate for high school graduation. He loves to eat a lot, plays the guitar (on hold for now), is inseparable with his music player and PSP.

KC on the other hand has also been with me when he was in grade two and like all the other two, will be graduating from high school at the end of this school year. KC loves to dance, listen to music, and take photos. He used to do extra work for their business which includes brochures printing.

It is doubly (or triple) hard for me to “let go” of them. It is like helping raise a child of your own only to let them go without assurance when I can see them again OR if I will still see them.

I know, teacher is getting “emo” and all but I can’t help it. They have been a part of my life, the life lessons I’ve learned and the challenges and happy times I’ve been through. I was privileged too to have been a part of their families, “growing old” with them and sharing each milestone they achieve and bump they have to overcome.

These are special moments we teachers feel and go through. I guess I have to get used to it because some of my students are getting to the stage where the three are now.

I hope that these experiences will prepare me to deal with how I will feel when the time comes and my children are old enough to start finding their own place under the sun.

Anniversary. Birthday. Just saying “I love you” or “I’m sorry”.

Say it with flowers for an anniversary at the other blog.

Shelved under Interesting tidbits

There are so many things to read and see and watch in the web that one doesn’t realize the passing of time. I am not only speaking for myself but for a lot of netizens out there.

How many times have you heard yourself say “What? It’s lunch time already? I haven’t prepared anything yet!”

We get lost in reading about the latest breaking news and watching the most-talked about viral video.

I for one just watched the video of the girl who threw pups in the river and I felt strong emotions. I just read a while ago about the nursing student who got expelled because she was blogging about her clinical experiences. Yesterday it was about medicare supplement plants because a friend asked me to research on that topic.

I don’t open my Twitter account on a daily basis for if I do, I would probably click the links here and there and accomplish nothing. I “listen” to my favorite tv series online when I have to meet online deadlines. No time to watch.

If there’s nothing good going on in my favorite series (like the channel is blocked, lol) I switch on the internet radio and get to choose the music that will play. Cool huh?

One common term we say when we need info on something? i-Google mo.
