“Here lies in honored glory an unknown soldier known but to God…” could have been more appropriate.  “Unknown” is the word written on most of these tombstones.

Clark Cemetery

A photo taken from Clark Cemetery in Clark Air Base, a former American air base  here in the Philippines. My father used to work in an American Naval Base, several kilometers from where this cemetery is located.

The people entombed here were casualties of war.

For two days this week I saw my mommy blogger friends for dinner. One was a post-birthday celebration of a very lovely lady aptly known in the blogosphere as Annamanila and the other one was a first birthday party of a little cute girl named Monina (whose mom’s blog is under maintenance right now).

When we are together we talk about so many different things like children, about work (particularly regarding our online responsibilities), the latest trending topics like personalities, politics, and even odd news in the world wide web plus some other interesting topics.

Did I hear anyone say “Lipofuze?” Ok, my lips are sealed :D

One of the latest topics we talk about is culturing kefir and what we can do with the “harvest”. We share tips on how this is infused in the food intake of the children. We share recipes too.

We’ve been friends for several years now, we who have diverse backgrounds who all met through blogging.  I know I found friends who are not just there for the laughs but for the tears as well.

I have “produced” a lot of kefir these past few days because the heat apparently makes the kefir grains propagate a lot. I have since let the grains sleep for a few days now until I consume all those that I have harvested.

I even use kefir as a facial wash/mask.

Meanwhile, since we have avocados at home, I will be making kefir and avocado facial mask which I read about in the web a while ago. It is so easy to make, just mix a small portion of mushed avocado and kefir and voila! apply on the face for 10-15 minutes.

I am sure there are a lot of options out there for my zit  like Acneticin but since I have natural ingredients, might as well go for the natural ones.

And now I wait till the avocado ripens a bit.

We see the full moon on a monthly basis unless there is a second full moon which happened already twice this year: January and March.

Below is the second full moon last January 2010:

January 2010 Blue Moon

I know I’ve featured a lot, a LOT of moons in this blog like here, here and here among others (rolls eyes, lol) but I couldn’t find an appropriate photo for this theme so I got me another excuse to post one more :)

Happy weekend!

My son has been interested in cars for a looooong time. His interests have evolved several times but are still focused on cars. This time around, he is focused on Formula One races. He watches the practices and qualifying shows (most of the time by himself), and the race itself mostly with hubby since there are times these are shown late at night (or after midnight). He knows how to look for a website to watch since we are too stingy and don’t have cable tv.

Crashes are bound to happen like what happened to Jarno Trulli‘s race car in Monaco. My son asked me if the drivers and the cars are insured. Of course, I said but they probably would not get cheap car insurance based on the super expensive cars they have.

The son’s interests however goes beyond watching these races. He checks the stats every now and then (as if these will change when there is no race ;)   ) which further fuels his love for numbers. He reads about “interviews” about the drivers including trivia about them. Nay, what is greasy food? What is dyed hair? He asks me.

So, what are your child(ren)’s interests?

Shelved under Lessons in Life, My Thoughts

I know a lot of couples are celebrating the “Marry Month of May” judging by the wedding invitations I see around.

Why May? I don’t know, maybe because it is summer and some people can go on vacation leaves to attend weddings during weekdays. Maybe because it is “Fiesta” in some places and it is a perfect excuse to do a double celebration.

Some couples spend way too much for their wedding but do not spend time to reflect on how they will live as a married couple. More than a hundred thousand pesos for the photographs. Glitz and glitter during the wedding:  lavish cakes that are not eaten, not-to-be-outdone wedding favors that are at times impractical, THE gown with crystals, fancy hard to pronounced food on the menu and majestic flower arrangements.

How far do couples spend to outdo others who were married before them to set the new standard as THE wedding to be talked about until a newer and grander one comes along.

This was “hammered” in our heads by our Christian Living teachers before: “Focus on the marriage and not on the wedding ceremony”. I find it somewhat funny how that comes from the nuns who are also married, not to their husbands, but to the church.
