We love books and here in my other Photo Hunt entry is a part of our home library.

If I will be asked to choose a favorite book, I surely would have a hard time choosing a personal favorite. Here are links to the books I have featured in this blog.

But from a teacher’s point of view (well, I am after all a special education teacher AND a homeschooling mom) I would definitely choose the book “Unicorns are Real” by Barbara Meister Vitale.

The book basically introduces great learning drills to help children with learning problems.

The book also encourages parents and educators to be more creative in teaching their children the necessary skills to be able to overcome the challenges that they must face in the classroom setting. Adaptations to the learning style of the child is encouraged.

I leave you with this page from the book:

Here are  more detailed posts about how a mom blogger friend used the book to help her child succeed and graduate as a Magna cum laude.

Have a great weekend, everyone and I hope to finish “Hour Game” by David Baldacci this weekend :)

Is there such thing as natural appetite suppressant?

I remember my aunt who had a box of sugar-free candies that she used to keep in the fridge when she lived with us for some time. She is a little heavily built and she had done a lot of things to reduce her weight. And that box of candies were a part of all these things.

How?

Blogging has come a long way. Now that there are more bloggers than less than four years ago when I myself started blogging, blogging has really changed.

Who would have thought mobile blogging would be a part of this evolution of the web generation? On the other hand, there is no denying the fact that we are a part of the “mobile generation”.

That said Smart has developed an online virtual community called Sandbox, using a new technology called HSPA or High-Speed Packet Access which can be accessed through mobile connectivity because it is faster and easier. (Now, it is made more affordable at PhP10/30 minutes.)This service is available through mobile connectivity, through the web and other mobile internet devices.

Mobile blogging or moblogging is born. To say that there is now more to just sending and receiving sms and mms, taking photos and videos, receiving and making calls and listening to music, moblogging is also a new service subscribers can enjoy. Sandbox provides the venue for such activities because it is more than a social networking site.

Sandbox offers Community Connectivity and Portable Entertainment for the subscribers. A subscriber can make use of the different services being offered in Sandbox:

  • Create a profile page
  • Create an email address
  • Form groups or join groups
  • Write blog posts and read friends’ blog posts too
  • Share uploaded photographs by creating albums
  • Read the latest news
  • Upload songs from  the more than 30,000 song in the Tunes page
  • Play video games
  • Upload videos (soon-to-be introduced service)

The evening mass we go to during Sundays was almost full-packed last night despite the heat. The all-men choir that sings on the mezzanine is lively. I saw a lot of people lighting votive candles. The priest talked about two things.

Last night’s church homily first discussed a bit the video scandal that rocked the country.

The homily also focused on the lack of priests in the country. Yes, this is true, even if there are a lot of young men  who want to be priests, particularly those who come from the province, the number is really dwindling down.

I am not an RC but I a have an RC family. I have known the RC and the multitude of problems it deals with because I have been schooled the RC way from Kindergarten till college.

I know there are so many problems that the churches, not just RC in particular, are going through.

I seriously think that it is the church that needs prayers now and it won’t hurt to pray for the church instead of focusing on praying for what we want.

One of the things we can do to help preserve Mother Earth is to make little efforts to achieve just that. So it saddened me to see this scene below that I just had to take a photo:

I sharpened  through Photoshop the part where the disposable cup is located as an emphasis.

This place is free for joggers and bikers to go to. I can not understand why some people do not seem to respect that fact and at least try to reciprocate by doing something good for the place.

Little steps in doing something for Mother Nature who gives us so much is a responsibility we should all observe.
