The Pieta is a masterpiece in Renaissance sculpture by Michelangelo. This can be found at the St. Peter’s Basilica in Rome.

My Scrappin’ Mondaze entry:

Photo was taken at the University of Santo Tomas “Pasyon ni Hesus, a Lenten Exhibit” during our family’s annual Holy Week Visita Iglesia.

I do not belong to the RC but my husband and children do. That is beside the point however, because for me, the Pieta represents the deep love of a mother to her child. The anguish, the pain, and at the same time the love is so obvious that people can really feel the emotions even if these are seen on a piece of an inanimate object.

Protection is the theme for Photo Hunter this Saturday.

Here is some sort of protection in our home front, my other PH entry.

This is the altar of the Basilica Minore de San Sebastian which was one of the highlights of our family’s annual Visita Iglesia during the Holy Week. This church is of Gothic architecture with 52 tons of prefabricated steel from Belgium shipped to the country for the construction of the said church.

The Philippines is a Catholic country, the only one is Asia, due to the Spanish influences when the country was colonized for more than three hundred years.

People seek protection and “favors” from patron saints.

Protection means wearing saint medals as pendants and/or putting prayer booklets in the wallets.

Church traditions are still observed though not as fervently and fanatical as before because more and more Christian churches (born-again Christians) are established.

Ironic too, FOR ME that even if people believe in the intercession of the saints and in prayers, they seek protection from supernatural beings and mythical creatures. This probably stems from the ritualistic and indigenous beliefs and practices back when the early Filipinos pre-Spanish conquest believed in such.

They are ready.

Bags are packed with the essentials. Water bottle that may come in handy. A small towel to wipe off the sweat just in case. Comfortable clothes and even more comfortable shoes.

Their hearts palpitating hard against their chests, eyes fixed on the object of desire.

And where are these people going to?

Reading about the perception of young ladies with what should be the norm in body image which includes body proportion (or what the oldies used to call as vital statistics [rolls eyes]  and skin color, it is not surprising that the young people of today are more health conscious though some maybe fanatic enough to different try ways and means to get their ideal body image.
