When I was younger (well, I am still young), summer means summer camp, woohoo!
Well, not the usual summer camp where the children learn new skills although ours was like that too. We slept in tent, we ate together, we went hiking and swimming in the beach and we learned new things about Jesus.
It was mostly learning new songs, making improvised performances like skits and poems.
Our camping site was hot then for there were a few trees to seek shade. Even if it was a few meters from the beach (the South China Sea) and winds are aplenty, these can be very hot.
I remember a few trees (which could be better if there were mango trees or guava trees or even Apricot trees) that are favorite “hangouts” where we bring our mats to sit on and tell stories, jokes and sing songs.
I must say I leanred a lot from those camping adventures and I hope my chilren get to experience this
