2008 I must say has been a very challenging year to most people.

People have been challenged to alter their lifestyles to suit the changing economic trends, which, more often than not, gloomy.

Our family mourned the passing away of our beloved pet.

I for one have become more conscious and vocal, even if only through writing, about my observations of what is happening around me.

There were many reasons to stop smiling although there are lots more reasons to smile more often.

A few days before this year ends had us question how peace really works, what with the conflict going on in the Middle East. I know this is far from where we are but the impact may be bigger than we thought it would probably be.

I have been and still is a dreamer and I have even encouraged others to do so, even through blogging.

My family and I, along with so many other families went through, and are still going through tough times. These times however, do not deter us from being positive, but it has encouraged us to be more conscious in how resources are being allocated.

I know the year ahead is not without bumps and hurdles.

How often must we bear the challenges of life; The endless roller coaster between happiness and sorrow; The constant ups and downs of daily strife. And Always the question remains….why? -Kit McCallum

But keeping my faith intact and working together with my family, I know we can face the challenges that lie ahead.

Life is beautiful, isn’t it?

We arm ourselves with love, faith, hope and joy and are thankful with the life lessons learned from the year that was 2008.

Christmas trees are meant to showcase trimmings or ornaments. These should be highlighted so it is best that lights are positioned well, as I have already written in how to decorate a Christmas tree.

At home, I have taken a lot of photos of our Christmas tree with its handmade ornaments.

Some photos with just the lights on the tree.

Some photos were with the lights on the tree and white lights on.

Some photos were with the yellow lights on.

Lighting plays an important role in having wonderful photos of the tree. Among the three different settings, the one with the yellow lights worked best and had the best effect on the photos.

Week 5 of the FilipinoMomBlog.com’s Fab Holiday Finds theme is red and/or green.

I have a red find here which features the red wooden tree I have already featured as the centerpiece of our Advent Wreath.

Below are two of the handmade Christmas tree decorations that my two younger and homeschooling children made. They made these during the first week of December.

Green paper Christmas trees and red paper Christmas stockings ornaments.

The materials used for these were from the personalized gift tags, white gift wrappers, and silver cord. Scrapbook embellishments plus red and green sequins were given for the children to decorate their ornaments.

The result?

The theme for this Saturday after Christmas is SQUEAKY.

Ok, this theme got me stumped so I didn’t participate on time first because I have forgotten yesterday was Saturday, not being used to being at home during this day since I usually have work.yes, I have lots of students who come for enrichment sessions during Saturdays.

Second, household chores (and DVD marahon) had me not going online the whole day yesterday so I totally forgot about blogging (and Plurking too).

For squeaky, I present my youngest daughter using our 3D View Master.

The 3D View Master used to be a must have when I was growing up. I didn’t have my own 3DView Master and I just borrow from my grandparents who had one for us grandchildren who took turns borrowing the toy.

Weekend activities were mixed for us.

Saturday morning till a little after lunch, I had work. After that we hurried to go to Wenchie’s house for the FilipinoMomBlog.com party with the mommies and kids.

We had yummy home-cooked food. Macaroni cooked by Cookie which my son loved and chicken from iMom. Lynn’s pichi-pichi dessert was a hit with the moms and the kids.

We got delighted with the news that LadyCess shared with us.

We were a bit sad because Feng was not able to join us because she is having her rest due to her pregnancy.

The kids had a fun time playing, riding bikes, playing ball, and just plain hanging out.

Here is Lynn’s entry for the party: Filipino Mom Blog Holiday Get-Together
