The most awaited movie has been shown and our young family all trooped to the movie house yesterday to watch it.

The verdicts have been out whether it lived up to the book’s storyline or not, and of course, as it always happen, “we can not please everyone”

Here are my two cents worth of thoughts:

Robert Pattinson is a cool Edward, I mean, not because he is supposed to be “cold”. I was skeptical at first because he seemed “thin” for the role. His wary smiles, the way he looked at Bella, its as if one can feel the tension and the passion building up. His sparkling body did not really sparkle much or maybe my eyesight was just a bit blurry even when looking at the big screen.

Kristen Stewart as Bella looks like she can’t possibly drive a humongous truck that she must have trained at a truck driving school back in Arizona. Her passion lacks in the movie like she was just there for the thrill in being with a vampire. I like her reaction though when she was in the hospital and she was shaking her head, saying “No” or something like that. I also liked when she was shouting at Edward as they “broke up”.

Sure, the tender moments were enough to make one giddy but there seems to be something lacking, and I can’t exactly pinpoint what it was. The meadow seems was not what I had in mind though.

The baseball game was exciting to watch too.

The other characters were good, including Charlie and Jacob who could have been given more time to appear on screen to establish his future role.

The Cullens were gorgeous except for the makeup which seemed too thick (or maybe its just me).

The high school gang looks cool and one would wonder why hanging out with a vampire seems better than hanging out with them.

The place, oh, just exactly what I want to explore. The wild beach, the fresh air, the trees and the rains, including those gray and dreary skies. Yes, even if I don’t like rains that much.

My verdict? Though the movie seems to lack something, I want to watch it again. This time without the kids. My son wants to watch New Moon, so he tells me and of course my eldest daughter would want that too.

When you can live forever what do you live for?

I am so intrigued by that Twilight movie/book. My 11-year old Taek classmate has been reading that thick book. And my college batchmate is all obsessed that her multiply page design is Twilight.

I will be watching that movie soon, since I no longer have the time to read (I havent even finished Harry Potter 6 and 7!!!) I just hope I have a REAL movie date. (hehe any takers? wink wink)

Kidding. I will have to watch Madagascar with Lex first. :-)

Hi Julie. The movie wasn’t as good as the book but I enjoyed watching it. Edward stole my heart. :) I also want to watch it again. Last Friday, I was almost tempted to watch Twilight again but I didn’t have the heart to be apart from hubby and son. So we all watched Bolt together. I’ll just wait for the DVD of Twilight so I can watch it to my heart’s content. :)

Aww it wasn’t your eyesight Miss Julie, I thought it didn’t sparkle as much, too! Plus the meadow wasn’t what I expected it to be. I mean, I thought it would be full of sunlight not all gloomy.

I didn’t love the movie as much as I hoped I would but I thought Robert and Kristen had chemistry to pull off the roles. Unfortunately, I would have wanted more appearances of the other minor characters. Plus, Bella’s “clumsiness” was highly undeveloped. My mother, who hasn’t read the book, didn’t even notice that Bella was supposed to be clumsy!

I know that the books are better than the movie itself because we can imagine the places and the characters to our hearts content. I always imagine myself as Bella and my hubby as Edward…hehehehe makes it a bit more “kilig” doesn’t it?

Z, and all the while I thought its my eyesight (I need glasses to read movie credits and translations, lol)

I was expecting something a bit more magical in the meadow scenes.

Yeah, I know what you mean…that scene was probably one of the most important parts of the movie… Sayang nga…they ruined Twilight for me nga…pero I can still imagine me as Bella…hahahaha

I wasn’t too hot about the sparkling scene too. I was bracing myself for it and then… HUH? Hehehe. I wanted to laugh because it wasn’t sparkly. Well, not to me. Perhaps others were happy about it, but it was a let down for me! Ah well.

While the movie certainly was just plain okay with me, I enjoyed seeing the characters come to life. Mike Newton! Alice Cullen! In the flesh! That alone made me watch the film a second time, and soon, a third!
