Yes, I used to be a fan, still am, if I have chances to watch matches. I used to enjoy watching those Royal Rumble matches.
Some wrestling names that I clearly remember are Lex Luger, The Undertaker, Bret (The Hitman) Hart, Shawn Michaels and British Bulldog.
I sort of hated the Japanese wrestler Yokozuna because he was big, even bigger than the other wrestlers.
I often wonder how much food these wrestlers consumed daily to have those big muscles. I even thought then that they may be using bodybuilding supplements. Come on, nobody would be that big without any help or boosts. There were controversies here and there but those didn’t stop me from watching the matches then.
Why was I interested to watch these matches? Because I was learning from them. Yes, and here are some of the lessons I have learned:
- Hard work. These people work hard so perfect their moves, to learn the sport and to maintain their standing.
- Toughness. It is hard to “break down” in front of millions of audiences when there is pain. They project this image and they have to maintain it no matter what.
- Determination and Focus. This is not just for the achievement of the title but in knowing that anything can happen on the ring so one has to focus.
- Learning to accept defeat. Sportsmanship is difficult especially when one is defeated in front of millions of fans who may be rooting for the next and better wrestler.
Do you like wrestling too?
