A cup of warm lemon grass tea can do wonders. Julian had a bad attack of asthma last weekend and had cough and wheezes last Friday night till Saturday night. Sunday morning he was a bit better so we went to Tagaytay to bring something to friends living there.

Tita C gave Julian a cup of warm fresh lemon grass tea with honey after we had our lunch. Julian drank it slowly. After lunch he and Tania explored the different nooks and crannies of their home. Even if the weather was a bit cold, Julian was sweating profusely.

But what surprised us was he did not need the nebulizer.

In fact the machine has been untouched till now since the last time he used it, on our way to Tagaytay around 11am last Sunday.

Tania is running a fever now and I have given her half a cup to drink because it has been proven to reduce fever/body temperature. And now we wait for the fever to subside.

UPDATE:

Tania’s fever was gone last night.

To those who want to know to make the fresh lemon grass tea, click this post I have written. Thank you.

I don’t think we’ve tried lemon grass tea before. It sounds like an effective way to keep asthma at bay. I’m glad that Julian felt better after that.

I hope Tania will get well soon.

Naku! Kawawa naman mga kids. I hope they will feel better soon.
Natikman ko na rin ang lemon grass tea. Ito ang tea nila sa Sonia’s Garden. Ok naman but i prefer lemon tea. I never realized it’s good for astma though.

Pearl, i am not sure nga if it was the tea or the honey. I read about this tea and all I read was it was for lowering the fever, for fighting cancer cells and other illnesses but i was not able to read about asthma.

Gumaling agad si Tania. I wrote about it here:

I have heard so much of the wonders of tea — especially green tea. I think I should begin to drink it again. Lemon grass tea seems wonderful too. That’s not pandan, no? Lemon grass is tanglad? Will look at your other blog asap. One never knows when it would come in handy.

Yes,lemon grass is tanglad. This is good too with other food like when we had tahong with sabaw, instead of putting in Sprite, I used the tanglad. Some of those who cooked inasal and fish use this too and I have heard about tinola made with lemon grass. Interesting.

I think it is easy to grow. We have this in our mini-garden.

[...] lemongrass plant where we get leaves for our lemongrass tea is dying a slow death, I don’t know why so I really have to get a new plant to replace that. [...]
