It was a windy, stormy and scary weekend, starting Friday with heavy downpours. Another bed weather day and another good reason to stay indoors. We did stay indoors for Sunday since Friday and Saturday there is work.

Cold weather like this inspires people to eat more, like we did. Our late breakfast yesterday was this:

Macaroni and cheese with buttered toast.

What’s for lunch? Very late lunch. We had lunch before we went to the 6pm mass at the University of the Philippines (UP) in Diliman.

We had our lunch at Rodic’s, a restaurant serving meals to the UP community since the 50s if I am not mistaken. This is called Tapsilog. Here in the Philippines, some restaurants serve meals like this and one has the option to choose the viand/topping. Tapsilog means TAP for tapa or beef steak (in this case,it was shredded, like corned beef), SI means sinangag or fried rice and LOG means itlog or egg. Other choice of toppings are bacon, milkfish, corned beef, longganisa ( Filipino version of sausage), tocino (sweetened pork slices), hotdog. Well, I could go on but I will stop.

Come see what I have discovered here on the way to the Sunday mass.

Sarap ng tapa flakes sa Rodics, ano? Some UP alumni come back to UP for this. They also have adobo flakes. Sana one Sunday we stumble on each other sa UP chapel. I also sometimes go there for mass. Do you also go on picnics at the sunken garden? I might take andeng one of these weekends.

Heavy breakfast ah. I remember Rodic’s ventured into fastfood at Sta. Lucia. I’m just not sure kung sila rin yun or franchised. It closed after a year or so. Pero sa Peyups, institusyon s’ya! :)

AM, try to go to the Lagoon during lunch time, wala na mga tao dun. We tried once and we had a table to ourselves, that one behind the Tres Marias.

Tapa flakes pala, I thought shredded tapa, that’s why it sounds a little violent to me :D

You should try it then Agring. Even a well-known local fastfood serves this for breakfast, I am not sure though if they serve it in overseas branches.
