P, you are right. My cousin didn't go through grade7 in LSGH, though he was able to survive because he is really brainy (just took one entrance exam for college which he passed). But still, its not really about being smart, its about being mature and responsible..

In some schools here, they practice individualized instructions where one can study through his/her own pace. I am not quite sold to the idea since for me class interaction is a very important part of learning.

Thanks :)

Rach, we decided to go through Grade7. Told her better enjoy that "rite of passage" since grade7 is where leadership abilities are practiced. Plus, I don't want her to miss graduation talaga :)

Cess, yes, acceleration is not a topic that should be taken lightly. We should take into consideration the maturity of the child. My daughter's classmate before was very young younger than them but she felt he was immature, childish, which he is since he is two years younger than them.

Si Julian nga is going to be grade2 but he will just be turning 7. I'm thinking kawawa siya when he goes to a real school. Btw, where will IpanJr study?

Feng, we decided to have her go through grade7. Told her she can do better this year and who knows, she might end up with the Student Council (roll eyes).

And I wouldn't want to have her miss the grade7 graduation ceremony.

We had Recognition Day with the homeschoolers, kasabay ng graduating kids in Prep (Pio, Wenchie's son) and grade 6 students. Julian recited a poem, "Where go the Boats" as intermission :D

You made the right choice in deciding to have your daughter go through 7th Grade.

This whole acceleration concept in the Philippines needs to be revisited. It's a concept that's been in place since the American period. In other countries, acceleration is not about skipping an entire grade. A child gets accelerated only in subjects such as Math and Reading that he/she truly excels in.

Hi Julie. Feng is right, walang grad ceremony sila Yohan. Pagdating pa daw ng Prep. Tagal pa, excited na ako. :)

Nag Grade 7 ako sa St. Scho. During my time, di pa masyado uso ang acceleration. Konti lang talaga ang na accelerate dati, less than a handful unlike now, I heard in St. Scho, marami ang na accelerate from Grade 6 to 1st yr HS.

I had wonderful memories when I was in Grade 7. Kakamiss din. Wala kasing pressure.

A photo wearing a toga would be nice souvenir that she can cherish.

BTW, I have an award for you on my blog. I will post it later.
