We went to the Manila International Auto Show at the World Trace Center in Pasay City yesterday. Though I was personally disappointed to miss the Lamborghini, Toyota Trueno, Maserati and Ferrari they had last year, it was nonetheless fun.

The highlight of this MIAS of course, was the Russ Swift Precision Driving Stunt. Here are several photos that show how Russ Swift can maneuver his car to park in a very very tight space. This is called Parallel Parking extra-ordinaire, with screeching tires and burning rubber ;)

Two cars parked one in front of another with enough space for another car to park in between. The red car is a Subaru Impreza WRX STI. That’s what Russ is driving.

There he is at 16:02 pm, in the red Subaru, getting ready to park the car into a tiny, tiny space.

Positioning the car into the tiny space, still at 16:02 pm. Note the man sitting in the back of another Subaru.

There. Its done, still at 16;02, he has parked the car, with just a teeny-tiny bit of a distance between the two cars.

The crowd went wild, of course!

The show’s spectators also went wild over the 2008 Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution X being exhibited inside. Click here to see how the car looks like.

That’s amazing. I wish I could do that.

[...] Here it is the 2008 Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution X. The newest addition to the Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution series. One of the cars featured in the recently concluded April 3-6, 2008 Manila International Auto Show, this car is one of the most popular cars there, judging by the way people flocked to its place in the show. Yes, we went to the show and you can see adrenalin pumping photos here. [...]

naalala ko tuloy, merong tv ad for audi dito sa US. ang tag line nila is: its the car for people who can park themselves. :) and the audi in the commercial was shown to be doing the same thing - parallel parking extraordinaire. :) presumably, its to poke fun at lexus, whose cars can park itself on auto-mode :P

great pics julie! :)

Hi Julie. Thanks for texting me about this event. I appreciate it. Sayang, we missed this event kasi we were out of town.

Thanks for sharing these great photos. I could imagine how amazing that parking ’stunt’ was.

Jules is crazy about that evolution. I will go check it out and show him that picture.

Sandy, that would be beneficial if there is just one space for parking and there are other cars wanting to park :D But seriously, there has been a shooting incident here in the Philippines when the driver was not able to get the parking slot. He shot the other driver who beat him to the space and the wife on the passenger seat died. So sad.
