April 2 has been designated as World Autism Awareness Day by the United Nations General Assembly based on the recommendation of the country Qatar. Click here to read the Third Committee’s approval of the draft resolutions of this topic plus a host of other concerns under this committee.

Millions of people with autism are not being given the proper intervention programs all over the world. A lot of these come from Africa and Asia where they do not have access to public services. This issue about getting the proper intervention program is very important because autism is a very serious health condition worldwide. 1 affected in 150 children is really serious.

As a special education teacher, I have a treasure chest of experiences about teaching and interacting with children with autism. I have also written posts about these experiences.

There are still many ignorant parents out there who refuse to accept their child’s autism. And sadly, one of them is a cousin. Hope this awareness campaign will remedy this.

Monaco, denial is one of the causes of the problems parents can have. There are ways to help these children. Most of the bulk starts and ends with them. We who work with these children can only do so much. Why for therapy, the most they can get is 3x/week and that is for those with deep pockets :)

Here is a link,
Special Needs
please bear with the problems, that went with the WP upgrade we did last week.

Thanks and hope your cousin would be able to see a professional who can help them before its too late.
