Being a home schooling mom and a special ed teacher, learning is my middle name (sorry Papa, this is just an intro :) )

For the PinoyMomsNetwork Fam Pics theme LEARNING, I would like to feature a few several photos and permalinks (please click these to be redirected to the posts) that show what we managed to capture that illustrate that learning can take place anywhere, especially helpful to me who does homeschooling and teaching children with special needs:

Julian learning to follow instructions with some of my students.

One Town, One Product Fair which the children learned about the different places in the Philippines and their products. Lots of good finds here, promise.

Tania learning to walk using coconut shells (?) and strings during the Buwan ng Wika celebration of Julian’s home school provider.

The children also learned about animals at the Manila Zoo.

Julian and Pio, Wenchie’s son, learning to while away their time while waiting in line, to be called during their field trip to Nestle Creamery.

We learned not just about the parts of the plants and its growth process but patience as well.

We are learning to wonder and trying to do things until we got it right.

Oh, I could go on and on. But you know what, the most important lessons to be learned are not about concepts and facts. Everyday is a learning process.

The things that I have learned lessons from as a teacher, I wrote here two years and a day ago.

It’s so true that learning can take place anywhere, Julie. This pictures surely make the point.

My daughter is a Girl Scout, and we do the work for many of the badges ourselves, which the Scouts encourage. It’s amazing what we learn together as we work through the activities.

You’re an inspiration.

Thanks for your kind words on One Single Impression.

  • Sandy, I was a Girl Scout too and so is my eldest daughter. Thanks too for creating a site for those who have poetic aspirations and want to be “heard” :)

Teaching was be such a rewarding profession. Thanks for sharing these great photos.

Yohan would like visit Manila Zoo again this summer. Last time he was there, he was only 2 years old.

Inspired by your mongo planting activity, I asked hubby to buy some mongo seeds at the market. I followed your advice about the cotton. Ay, I will post nalang the story one of these days. Funny kasi… Sorry nabitin pa kita.

  • Try the Avilon Zoo Rachel, though it is a bit far and even us haven’t been there too, only Trixie. So many places to visit for the children (and parents) to learn and see new things. Sige, will wait for the mongo post :)

Hehehe..yang monggo plant, meron din kami nyan.

The fact that you are homeschooling your child is truly admirable. I agree, with that kind of perseverance then “learning” must be your middle name :)

  • Hay, Cookie, sometimes its a little taxing din though when I think about it, these are just a few years for them to enjoy spending time with me.Once they are a little older, they might not want to do that. Thanks :)

I am particularly interested with the OTOP fair. It’s a good way to teach the kids the different places in the Philippines and the products they produce without boring them. :)

  • Lynn, there is another one coming up next week and we are definitely going to go visit the fair. Its in Mega so its convenient to go :)

Wow, you are one dedicated teacher - in and outside the classroom!

  • Thanks, Cheryl. Tiring but I have to do these things while they are still interested and while they are still listening :)

So very true Teacher Julie that everyday is a learning process. Neat pictures!

  • Yes, we just need to see the opportunities for these. Or make them if necessary :)

  • Yes, so true. If we don’t see opportunities presenting themselves, we make these happen :)

Your profession is truly a real inspiring one. Nurturing the young ones and teaching them in all possible surroundings.
My boy loves planting those green beans on cotton wool and water, watching them grow and measuring their height every day!
Your ‘walking on coconut shells’ looks interesting. Teaching balance?

  • The coconut shells, yes, not just balance but creativity and/or thinking skills to solve problems by yourself. Even if help is given here, if one can’t “navigate” then one can’t walk properly :)

such a great entry for learning theme. wish homeschooling was already famous during my time then maybe i could have asked my mom to be home schooled. :)

btw, you are an excellent blogger, so pls pick your award from my wordpress blog.

take care, Juls.

  • Homeschooling is the new trend, Arlene. It just so happen that we chose this since socialization is not really an issue yet. Thanks for the award :)
