Thank you for visiting my blog.

As for your question, what I know is pastel colors are recent “innovations” to church “restoration” and maintenance. The colonial era practice of church painting usually employs organic earth colors from plants and minerals. Most of the time, the church is left with their protective white lime palitada/stucco covering. It’s a pity that the stucco is being peeled now to expose the bricks which may hasten structural deterioration due to exposure to the elements; or being coated with cement palitada which has the same effect as moisture is locked in inside the walls. Today, there are plenty of colonial churches painted with kaleidoscope colors that make them look like birthday cakes. Garish indeed.

You have a wonderful site.

Shubert, thanks for visiting me blog. Yes, I am partial to unpainted old churches like the one in Baclayon where my late FIL used to be a parish priest (he helped established the museum and built the HS there). The cathedral in my hometown in Zambales had been painted yellow. Yes, garish and to me it stands out like a big cheese. :)

That is such a cute picture. I've never seen a starfish that color! Very nice.

Lots of that starfish here, Sharon, we even saw one with only four, err, legs. Thanks!
