For this particular meme, the following are the rules:

I am tagging the following pet lovers: Rachel, Cheryl, Tina, Kim, Dragonheart and Merlin’s humans, Mitch and my daughter Trixie.

Our family is partial to a particular breed of dog: big-bone, big-head, short-haired, good temperament and good natured: the American Pit Bull Terrier. Contrary to popular belief that these dogs are hot-tempered, aggressive and not good with children, we tend to disagree. Having had three of this breed, all light brown in color, we can say that we have welcomed the third with open arms and happy smiles.

I always have wanted to share a photo of our third APBT but have not had the chance to do so, until now:

7 Random/Weird facts about our APBT named Sparky:

  1. He will jump for joy whenever it is time for him to eat.
  2. He has preyed on one two three stray cats and a number of mice.
  3. He loves to warm himself early in the morning.
  4. He barks at the children playing in front of our place.
  5. He usually is peeking underneath the gate even if we haven’t parked the car yet whenever we get home.
  6. He doesn’t drink iced tea but loves cola. :D
  7. He loves the children and would go near them as if asking to be patted on the head or acknowledged.

  • Thank you Marcia.We are quite “lucky” with our dogs. They look menacing but are actually wonderful pets. Those who give the breed a bad name were trained to hurt other dogs, and even people too. We have a lot of those APBT VS APBT illegal fights here in the Philippines. We wouldn’t want to do that with our dogs, that inhumane.Err..is my term right :)

Hi Julie! I am surprised to learn that pitbulls are gentle and good natured… I guess I believed the myths I hear about them. I’d love to have a rottweiler in the future, when my kids are more mature to share in the tasks of caring. My FIL has a very gentle rottie. He is so big and strong, he really doesn’t mean it when his lambing becomes a bit painful, hehe.

  • I have heard some not-so-nice stories about rotties too, Chateau. I think its NOT the dog breed, its how people treat and train their dogs. Talk about enduring pain, that’s what make these dogs extra special, and that’s what make people have them fight each other. Tsk!

  • DH and M, here in the Philippines, there are a lot of cats, stray cats. It is also a belief that if someone wants to get rid of kittens, that person should put a cover on the container where the kittens are and not remove it when the kittens are left for the kittens would still find their way home. Sad, really, but true.

I guess I was influenced about things I hear about Pit Bulls in general that’s why I’m a little wary of them. I remember watching a documentary about Pit Bulls. The owners wanted viewers to see the gentle side of Pit Bulls and said that the breed have been greatly discriminated because of some people who breed Pit Bulls for dog fights.

Thanks for sharing these things about Sparky. Cola? How interesting. Bruno has never tried it before.
