My first grader, 6year old Julian has been very late in his third quarter homeschooling studies. We were not able to follow the usual schedule of lessons. For the first two quarters, we had been way ahead of the schedule but not for the third quarter.

Anyway, he chose the book Midnight on the Moon by Mary Pope Osborne for the third quarter Oral Book Report. This book is a part of the Magic Tree House series by Random House. He was supposed to verbally tell what the book was all about but instead he wanted to write his book report.

He was able to write the summaries of the first four chapters of the book last night (January2). Below is the first chapter summary he made using MS Word Century Gothic size 16 font:

Julian has done a wonderful job, loved reading his summary!
Your New Year’s message was lovely, thank you very much.
Best wishes for a fantastic 2008!

  • Oh, thank you very much, Mar. He still needs to work on the syntax and I didn’t give him any verbal input while he was encoding the summary.  :)

Good job Julian! I wish I could write like you when I was six :)

Julie, I didn’t know that you were homeschooling one (or all?) of your kids. Can you direct me to an entry where you talked about this? I have a cousin in Maryland who is homeschooling all her 3 kids too.

  • Thank you Geri. About the homeschooling, Julian is the one formally enrolled in the curriculum of Catholic Filipino Academy, our home school curriculum provider, which is under the group of Bro. Bo Sanchez, if you know him. You can probably visit my homeschooling blog here: homeschooling blog. I was supposed to get Calvert, which is a home school curriculum provider based also in MD but it was a little expensive for me. I hope my reply was adequate. Thanks! :)
