We were supposed to have an early morning breakfast at one of our favorite road trip destinations but we (hubby and I) woke up past 9am. And this sight (which I took a photo later on) greeted me as I went out of the bedroom to go to my daughter Trixie who was already (always, like everyday) up and in front of the pc:

This doesn’t usually happen, waking up late, but after watching several episodes of a currently favorite TV series on DVD, this is bound to happen. The two younger children are still with my parents. Oh, how we miss them but we can’t possibly have them yet without doing something about this:

Hubby was outside, cleaning the windows after which he vacuumed the whole house. Trixie helped me out by putting the discarded stuff in big trash bags. She was the one who cooked lunch, corned beef and rice. Didn’t want to push my luck to ask her to cook the fish sinigang (fish stew) so we settled for the canned food. Thank you, dear daughter. After some hours doing manual labor like filing, dusting, discarding things that are not so important anymore, I got this:

4pm the library looked a little better, with most of my paperbacks in place. The upper shelves are for hubby’s big and heavy computer books which he hasn’t sorted out yet. I don’t want to put those books back yet since I told him to get rid of those not-so-updated books before I do so.

We went to mass and some dinner around 6pm.

Before lights out, we had this:

So tired, but we felt better. Not so bad since we actually did get rid of some of the clutter in the cabinets under the books. Now if only we could do this to the two other rooms in the house, I would be very happy.

Have a great and productive week, everyone! :)

Wow, you accomplished a great deal. It looks great. I need to get inspired to do some organizing at my house. I hope you have a pleasant week.

  • Thanks Carver. We still have to do two rooms but then, one step at a time is better than no step at all. Hope you would be able to do some organizing too and tell us about it :)

Very nice photos, looks like my mom’s library :)

Have a great week ahead!

  • Really? Your mom has lots of books then. Mine are mostly suspense, mystery with psychological twists and some gore. Ah, maybe I should expand my materials. Thanks, Emmyrose :)

  • Ah, Yen, books, magazines, old VHS tapes, the children’s storybooks, computer gadgets, my old grad school notes, my daughter’s old notebooks pretty sum up those things in there. Thanks :)

doesn’t that feel good when you accomplished something? that was nice of your daughter to cook for lunch while you were doing the sorting and organizing. hubby was a big help, too. great teamwork!

  • Your right Belle, an extra pair, in this case, two pairs of hands would go a long way. She cooked primarily because she was hungry but even then, I didn’t need to tell her twice to do that. Now, about those two rooms we still have to clean and de-clutter…:D

You did a wonderful job, such nice arrangements only last a few days around here…
Congrats on being featured today!!

  • Ah, I hope this would last too. But in a few days when the two younger children are back from my parents’ house, I doubt it will still stay like that. Thanks, Mar :)

It does feel nice when books are neatly arranged in the rack.
Congrats too on being selected at WS random weekenders, and have a fine week ahead!

  • I couldn’t agree more, Thess. Now I just hope that arrangement would last for a while. Thanks :)

Impressive job! need to do that too one of these days.

  • One step at a time will do, Christianne.  Still have to tackle de-cluttering two of the rooms in the house. Just thinking about it makes me feel itchy. With dust :D

  • Ann, I had to go through these: magazines, my books, hubby’s computer books, the children’s books and magazines, my yellowing grad school notes and photocopied book chapters, computer gadgets, CDs and even old receipts. Grabe. Sweet din si Trixie no? Although me konting monetary benefits yun :D

That’s great that you got so much done! I have a room I call “the cave” and I really want to turn it into an office, but it is daunting to look at it! This is inspiring though.

  • The cave! That pretty much sums up the room before it was arranged. Oh, we have two more caves that need more than just dusting and de-cluttering :D Thanks, Deb.

If only I could make my shelf look as neat as yours, Julie!!!

  • Ack, Tita Princess, that looked like a mayhem before. Maybe i was just too busy blogging in the room to look around to notice how the clutters are piling up. Thanks :)

What a coincident! I just had spring cleaning during the weekend too! :) I know what you meant about feeling better after the cleaning. It’s the satisfaction from the clean view we got, right! :)

oh, btw, congrats on being feature as one of the weekender! :) Hv a great week!

  • Yup, feeling better is one of the key points earned here. Let us just hope we would be able to sustain how it looks for a reasonably long time :) Thanks, Jean.

What a difference a day’s fixing makes ha. Which reminds me to get rid of all the clutter both in my home and work place. You won’t believe it, TJulie, till you see it. Dyahi talaga.

  • Ah, AM, these were some of the things I have to get rid off: yellowing pages of my grad notes (pre-Trixie who is now 12), bundles of photocopied book chapters from the Educ Lib, receipts of all shapes and sizes, computer gadgets that have long conked out, among other things. I had to “steel” my resolve in not keeping anything for sentimental reasons. If I would probably get rid of it someday, I should do so now. I did :)

Hi Julie, am back, congrats on conquering the clutter. Naloka ako when I see all those books…But I know naman you have the energy to fix all the stuff…

  • Ay Wenchie! Grabe! Once, Trixie asked me if I was able to read  all those books I have, I said yes. Some were even read twice, thrice. I could probably have more if I hadn’t discovered blogging. I still need energy to tackle two more rooms and after that, I could probably relax. Probably. Pero ha, super kati ang alikabok!
