PinoyMomsNetwork Fam Pics 3: Plated (On a Plate)

Here are some photos of the children enjoying something plated.

Grilled chicken which Julian chose. When I asked if it is because he likes to taste it, he said he chose it because it was the cheapest among the food offered on the page it was listed. :D

This was during Kyle’s first birthday party last August. Kyle is the son of good friends who met through me. There were so many food choices during this party but I only got two choices for the two little ones and I didn’t even fill their plates. Why? Don’t want to put too much food that they can’t eat.

One thing I have observed with parties. People fill their plates with too much food, not only because it is free but it is yummy too. But then, sometimes, they can’t eat everything and so much food go to waste. Tsk, tsk!

This one is different. It may not look that appetizing but believe me, it was. Please read the story below:

I was supposed to make something like seafood bisque but I found out there was no more cream in the dry goods supplies cabinet. So I decided to oven-grill the squid. When I thought it was okay to get the squid, my daughter Trixie came along and commented: “Amoy dagat. Hindi pa luto yan. (Smells like the sea. That isn’t cooked yet.)

Hmph! Of course, it is cooked, I thought. But hubby said better put it back inside the oven again. And I did. Guess what? The smell after a few minutes was very, very different! Maybe hubby is right, Trixie has the “nose” for good food smells. I do hope she would be enthusiastic to “follow the smell” and put it to good use.

i feel hungry already..i do agree that people’s eyes are bigger than their tummies..i believe in the saying that it’s better to waste food than to waste the figure..haha! i always taught my kids to finish what they eat - so therefore to take only little bits then get some more when they need to..regards.

  • Vicky, one of the good things we can teach our children is getting food that they intend to eat and not put on too much that will just go to waste. That is what we do too, just get enough and get some more later on. This transcends too, to different aspects in life, not just to food. Thanks for the visit :)

  • Ana, that is from one of the branches of ice cream stores called, Ice Cream Store :) One can buy as low as Php8.00 for a small cup.

  • Ann, he would even ask if I have enough money before he asks me to buy something. Sometimes when we buy from McDonald’s he would say, I just buy the Burger McDo for him than the cheeseburger since it is cheaper and he will just put cheese in it when we come home :D

Making me hungry! I have been guilty of going to a buffet and piling food on my plate but now when I go I can usually just get a salad (with lots of veggies) and I get full off it. :-)

  • Vegetable salad is a good idea, Kat. Going to a buffet sometimes is so tempting especially if there are lots of choices. Most of the time I avoid those with rich sauces. :)

  • Tintin, I agree, the squid is not for the faint-hearted. They said never to eat this at night since there is bound to be indigestion :D

Your son is very educated. Mine would have filled his plate with the usual “french fries and chicken” and would probably have not finish his plate… ;-/

  • Isabelle, my son Julian loves chicken. In typical Filipino household where almost every meal is eaten with rice, he eats very little of it or none at all when there is chicken. He does not like french fries too much but my daughter Tania loves it. Thanks :)

  • Mitch, that is from an ice cream store called Ice Cream Store. Seriously ;) We love eating there coz the ice cream is not too sweet, and the prices are good. Imagine a small cup for as low as PhP8.00. That concoction was only PhP45-60.00.

  • Party food are actually one of the best, next to home-cooked meal which is probably the best. That ice cream was from the Ice Cream Store along Visayas. Ok dun, not too sweet but very low price, me PhP8.00/small cup. :)

  • Julian is really budget conscious, always asking if there is enough budget for things we buy :D Trixie I think is interested in cooking, she just doesn’t like to cut the ingredients and wash what she used. Ganyan talaga, we don’t have a maid to do these things for us. The ice cream is one of our favorite desserts. :)

  • I have to choose finger licking good food since they are sometimes a little hard to feed :( But when they have their favorites, hala, sige! :D

  • Not really a wiz but when I am in the mood.We just have the usual fare for food. I have to work in the kitchen, otherwise we would starve! No helpers in this household. :)

  • Feng, the ice cream is probably the best dessert children love. That one was not a dessert though,snack namin yan sa nearby Ice Cream Store branch. Do you have one near you? The ice cream is not too sweet, reasonably priced, there are PhP8.00/cup :)

  • Cheryl, I think my daughter would be able to whip up a good meal, not just pan-fry those marinated meat and fish that we usually have in the fridge. Thanks for the visit :)

  • If I had known that would be the fate of the pusit, I would have bought a green mango to go with it. You know with tomatoes, onions and a little patis. By the way, its Friday night now and I had that green mango salad with barbecue just two hours ago :)
