I have been tagged by Melai and GBex and Colin and recently by Angel to do the 12 Months meme.

July is my birth month. I am to highlight 5-10 characteristics that best describe myself. I highlighted twelve.

JULY: Fun to be with. Secretive. Difficult to fathom and to be understood. Quiet unless excited or tensed. Takes pride in oneself. Has reputation. Easily consoled. Honest. Concerned about people’s feelings. Tactful. Friendly. Approachable. Emotional temperamental and unpredictable. Moody and easily hurt. Witty and sparkly. Not revengeful. Forgiving but never forgets. Dislikes nonsensical and unnecessary things. Guides others physically and mentally. Sensitive and forms impressions carefully. Caring and loving. Treats others equally. Strong sense of sympathy. Wary and sharp. Judges people through observations. Hardworking. No difficulties in studying. Loves to be alone. Always broods about the past and the old friends. Likes to be quiet. Homely person. Waits for friends. Never looks for friends. Not aggressive unless provoked. Prone to having stomach and dieting problems. Loves to be loved. Easily hurt but takes long to recover.

Rules:

- Pick your birth month.
- Bold the 5-10 that best apply to you.
- Copy to your own journal, with all twelve months.
- Tag 12 people from your friends list.

I won’t tag 12 people because I just tagged a few with the memes I just did. If anyone is interested to do this tag, feel free to do so. :)

Here are the twelve months and their characteristics:

A majority of homes in most urban areas are wired or connected to the internet. Internet connectivity is needed for work-related tasks, getting connected to other people, for entertainment purposes and for blogging needs. There are different ways to get connected: dial-up connection, adsl or cable internet. To maximize your internet connectivity, it is more convenient to have wireless services or broadband internet services. But where can one get cheap broadband services? BT.com offers different broadband internet packages to suit your connectivity needs. One of their featured packages is the £8.95/month. This package includes standard wired router, 5GB download allowance, 24/7 customer service support, Freeview and TV on demand, 5GB free online storage, hassle-free installation and more features that consumers would find useful. There are also 250 minutes of free Wi-Fi per month to thousands of hotspots around the world which includes the BT Openzone Wi-Fi hotspots across UK and Ireland. These days, wi-fi has changed the way people get connected.

I listened to the am radio this morning. The two commentators, Anthony and Gerry,  discussed about a survey done recently which ranked the Philippines as second among the Asian Nations in terms of happiness. So this means, we Filipinos are a happy lot.

I am skeptical about this survey, judging by what I see around me. Yes, I do not live in plush residential village and I see a lot of harsh conditions around me coming from and going to this place we call our home.

Are we truly happy people? I heard both guys say something about an easy-going attitude (which can also be translated as “bahala na” or “come what may” attitude). I also heard words to the effect that “the Filipinos has adapted to the the difficult life”.

Would those traits qualify as happy? We always talk about Filipinos as always smiling despite the odds. We see this unique characteristic of people smiling, seemingly taking things in stride even if we are in very difficult situations.

We always talk about being happy with our family and yet, there are those who commit  crimes against their own family or worst, take the lives of their own family members. We may question the motives of those who do these heinous acts. We judged them depending on our perceptions of what is right and wrong. We even pray for them.

At the end of the day, after everything has been said and done, can we truly say that yes, “I am happy”?

This View From the Window meme was passed on (eons ago, it seems) to me by Patricia. My apologies, Patricia for being not being able to do this tag. I was apprehensive at first. You will read below why.

I blog in the library which is located in the center of the house. There are no windows in our library. On my right is a door to a bedroom with bookshelves as part of the wall. On this are my hubby’s Ferrari toy collection, the children’s reference books and some odd knick-knacks.

The photo above is on my left, a wall of bookshelves, books are mostly hubby’s and mine.

I use a rather old pc which is of course, stationary, so my view when I blog is that photo above. I sit on the right, and hubby works on the left. Those papers between the monitor and the cpu? Those are pending reports I needed to finish during the time the photo was taken. That small red bag is my daughter’s for her music player. Do we need to upgrade? I think we do.

Because this is meme is about window view, I would like to share a sunset view from the dining room, a few steps from the library:

I am now tagging the following to share their Window View When Blogging:

My Thoughts on this:

This Love Chain tags are wonderful ways to see other blogs that we frequently visit. Sometimes, we see blogs with wonderful posts that inspire. Sometimes we read blogs to get information on events and places to go to. Sometimes we see blogs with posts about technical stuff that we can find useful not just with blogging but with other aspects of our life. Oh, there are even blogs that just rant and rave and full of angst. And there are also blogs with posts of useless information that come in between sponsored posts. And of course, there are blogs that have wonderful photos of places, things and people which we enjoy looking at and learning from. The world of the blogsophere is expanding everyday, with a lot of people putting up blogs for varied reasons. And whatever those reasons are, permit me to say that blogging is wonderful.

Shelved under Bits and Pieces, My Thoughts

I am wide awake at 3am in the morning because hubby went with college friends to Nueva Vizcaya (we have been there before for a holiday trip and it is like 6-7 hours away, in one trip) to visit their former classmate. This former classmate named Hazel died the other night and her demise was even in the news and tabloids. She was the call center agent who died because she slept in the house of her friend which unfortunately was broken into by a stranger with  intent on robbing the house.

What is it with people who do these things? To rob another person or a house is bad enough but to actually take another person’s life? There have been disturbing news lately about these happening in different places in our country. To think we call ourselves happy people, I can’t being to understand why these things occur.

Sign of the times? What times? Difficult times. Hard times. People are becoming poorer, people are hungrier, people are desperate. When people feel these, there is no stopping what they intend to do, no matter how grave, no matter how horrible. And that in itself is not good.
