Shelved under Bits and Pieces, My Thoughts

Do you work hard? How do you know you work hard?

  • Do you measure the value of you work by the hours you spend working?
  • Do you measure the value of money earned while working?
  • Do you get stressed out as soon as you wake up because you will then be faced with a number of tasks that needs to be done?
  • Do you feel dead tired at the end of the day?
  • Have you noticed fine lines on your face that weren’t there a few months ago?
  • Have you noticed your hair turn gray, or white?
  • Do you smile less often?
  • Do you feel yourself getting angry or irritated at almost every twist and turn?
  • Do you enjoy the “fruits” of your labor?

We work hard alright. But if we don’t find satisfaction with what we do, we would have a difficult time appreciating the value of what we do. We should love what we do and if we do, it doesn’t feel like working at all.

for me, the last bullet which says “enjoy the “fruits” of your labor” is the best measure if indeed we really work hard.

there is no point in working so so hard if one does not have enough time to relax and enjoy life. :)

  • So true Feng, so true. :)

I measure the value of my work with the results. No matter how hard I work, if I fail to yield the desired ends, everything is deemed to be a failure. :)

  • Hmmm…seems like you are a perfectionist, Rhoda. And an achiever too. Keep up the good work ;) Thanks.

eekk how did you know?? :-P

Kidding aside I know I work hard because I care about how my work is valued by the company. I try not to take my concerns home but I find it difficult to “let go” at the end of the day.

  • Difficult to “let go” at the end of the day. That rings a bell Auee, since we “talk shop” at home. Terms I use in work and tech terms hubby uses are common words and topics in our conversations. The fine lines, not so much there but I git shocked when I grew gray hairs overnight! Ack! :0

- oh yes!

am i a hard worker? i dont know, im just a conscientious worker probably..

  • Ana, your working condition makes you more vulnerable than others and this makes you want to do better than your best. You are in a man’s world and you are a “foreigner” in their eyes. At least, you got a wonderful place to explore with your beautiful daughter. :)

Eh kung beginning palang ng araw dead tired ka na? Ang tawag dun, Nanay. Hehehe :)

You know what, I think the amount of work shouldn’t matter as long as it’s work you love. Whatever kind of work, basta enjoy, walang pagod :)

  • Dead-tired at the end of the day but stressed out upon waking up. As if one did not get to sleep. But what’s the difference? Yes, only a working nanay can feel that. But then its also a matter of  perspective di ba? ;)

I got fine lines and gray hair which I try to disguise with moisturizes and hair color, the first without success and the second with fair success. :) Oh, I work hard and blog hard and scrabble hard and …. etc. hard. :) But I no longer allow stress. Usually but not always, Mr. Stress is kept at bay. :)

  • Stress is one of the things that makes life short, AM. When this stress takes over me, I feel myself change so more often than not, I try to be calm. Its hard but it is definitely a skill that needs perfection. I am usually patient when I am with my students but otherwise I am not. One thing I have yet to learn? Not to expect too much, from myself and others. And the hair color? I may be going to be friends with that soon.
