Every Saturday, members post photos based on a theme. The theme for the first Saturday of this month, October 6, 2007 is CURVY.

CURVY means having curve. There are a lot curves around us, in nature, in our home and in things made by men. For the things that curvy, I concentrated on things that are naturally curvy and of things and places that have been made to curve to follow the natural curve of the terrains. All the photos here are places we visited here in our country, the Philippines.

As I have full-day teaching schedules every Saturday, I hope you get to enjoy these of photos showing something CURVY below:

img_0696callao.jpg

To the far north, we went to Callao Caves. Callao Caves are said to have seven chambers. Such a wonderful place to visit especially in parts where the sunlight goes through curvy openings.

img_1359swan.jpg

Swans with curvy bodies and necks at the Fernwood Gardens. One of the ultimate and wonderful garden settings to have a large gathering held in a place where there is a roof to protect guests from sun’s heat and even rains. A place near where we live.

img_5507b.jpg

This is Garden Cottages in Tanay, Rizal, a place one and a half hour (with traffic near market places) drive away, eastern part from where we live. It is a housing project nestled between mountains where the air is cool and fresh. Notice how the roads are curvy as these roads followed the contour of the terrains. The homes here were originally offered to several government agencies’ employees but are now open for the non-government employees. Annamanila, you might want to check this out.

img_5513b.jpg

These wonderful flowers, including this zinnia, according to Patricia, are planted on the Garden Cottages’ roadside borders. The flower is so refreshing, its petals curvy as if to welcome the sun’s warmth. I can’t describe how deep the residential village is from the road but believe me, it is very far from the main road.

img_5526b.jpg

I have posted another version of this photo/place here. But I am facing the direction towards home, not towards the place called Sierra Madre Resort in Marilaque where we would eventually end up.The roads from Garden Cottages leading to Marilaque which is one of our favorite places to visit, are curvy. My hubby who infrequently joins his motorcycle buddies for a ride on these “twisties”, love this particular stretch of the road.

img_6362b.jpg

Wouldn’t it be nice to rest in this curvy, egg-shaped hanging seat after a tiring day’s work or play? This is a two and a half to three hours drive away from our home in Metro Manila, a beach-front resort.

The roads around Baguio and further north were some of the curviest I have been on. Lovely picture.

  • So true, the roads there are so curvy. Thanks, Colin :)

Hey! These all are fantastic! Great shot! Why I had never thought of taking picture of the winding road in front of my house? hehe…

  • Maybe its because its always there so it gets ignored, :D Thanks, Healy.

Wow, that Fernwood Gardens seem quite a place. It doesn’t look like its in the Philippines :)

  • Geri, it is a wonderful place but very expensive. I think its almost six figures in PhP for renting the place only, no food yet.

You chose wonderful photos for this week. The caves sound especially interesting.

  • The cave is interesting, not slimy nor dark. The terrain inside looks like Mars. Thanks, Meeyauw :)

Hi Julie. Those are magnificent shots. Thanks for sharing some nice information about them.

I’ve never been the adventurous type so haven’t been to a real cave before. Must be quite an experience.

Those are lovely swans.

Wow, those are really curvy roads at Tanay.

  • We have been to three caves only, Callao Cave, Hinagdanan Cave in Bohol and a man-made tunnel near the Angono Petroglyphs. I love swans, these are so graceful. Those curvy roads in Tanay, a lot of motorcyclists have had accidents there. Sad.

Very nice choice of pics….I’ve been to Callao cave lots of times everytime we visit Cagayan Valley, medyo scared ako to go inside before. Then I saw the altar, what it’s like kaya to have mass there. I like the swan and zinnia pics, very nice.

  • Wenchie, it is surprising to see the cave well-lit but I was saddened by the vandalism done on the plaque at the entrance. The altar is awesome. We got until the end part and just made “silip” into the the very small opening for the next chamber. Trixie, Julian, hubby and I went there last 2005. Thanks :)

[...] We are ready to welcome summer in just a few weeks, so we will be having our summer program planning this Sunday in this place. Would have love to have the whole family join me and my co-workers but we are saving for the children’s summer vacation. So its just me and Julian (free entrance fee for him) to have him smell fresh sea air because he has been having asthma attacks recently. I have written in reference about this place in this post specifically the last photo. [...]
