Yesterday, September 27, 2007, Julian and Tania joined Julian’s home school provider Catholic Filipino Academy‘s field trip at the Nestle Ice Cream‘s Nestle Creamery in Aurora Blvd. Founder of CFA Bro. Bo Sanchez and his family, whose son is also with CFA, was with us. Where exactly is the Nestle Creamery? It is located along Aurora Blvd in Quezon City, here in Metro Manila, Philippines. Nestle Creamery is home to Nestle Ice Cream which is one of the leading ice cream brands in the Philippines. Nestle Philippines bought this company from Magnolia Ice Cream which used to be a subsidiary of San Miguel Corporation. Magnolia Ice Cream is now back in the market but that is another story.

Julian and Pio, Wenchie‘s son, also enrolled at CFA.

Tania (in white headband) with Bea, Wenchie‘s youngest child. They tagged along even if they were not enrolled :)

Julian and Tania, along with a lot of children gathered at the Nestle Creamery’s lobby for the field trip. We even had home schooled Americans living in the Philippines with us.The children, along with us parents were given a presentation about the company and about the ice cream making process and about the different products. Even Kimy, a frozen delight mascot appeared to entertain the children. A very, very good marketing strategy indeed.

After the slide presentation, we then proceeded to observe the Nestle Creamery. We saw a very clean workplace with a few people manning the machines. It seems that the Popsicle stick machine was broken and some are fixing the problem. We saw Nestle and Chuckie ice cream in containers moving on a conveyor belt.

After we looked at the observation windows, we then went to the freezer located at the exit to get free Nestle Ice Cream frozen delights. Julian got for himself a Kimy Jelly Tongue, Tania got a Milo Stick and I got a Pinipig Crunch. Hubby did not go with us inside the Nestle Creamery as he had to go to a computer shop to have a computer device repaired in the nearby computer hub a street away.

All the kids were so concentrating on the seminar ya.. they are waiting for drumsticks !!

  • LOL, Keeyit! So true! They were starting to squirm this way and that when the PR person told them to sit still to watch the presentation about how to make ice cream so that they get a free frozen delight afterwards. :D

I think I’ve been there when I was kid, for a school trip, too. If not the exact place, definitely a Magnolia factory. It wasn’t Kimi who came out to greet us, I forget the name now but he’s pure white like cotton??

Anyway some of my classmates & I kept on following the mascot. Then the guy took off the head & turned around. He was as shocked as we were! WAAHHH tao pala yun? hehe

  • Auee, thanks for sharing this story, I had so much fun reading it, really LOL! Hay, ang saya, :D

Glad to see photos of the fun field trip. Pareho tayo, I would have chosen a Pinipig Crunch too. :)

  • Yes, I love Pinipig Crunch, makes me remember when I was still a young girl. One of my favorites, along with Twin Popsies chocolate. :)

Makes me nostaligic … we had Magnolia plant tours as kids too. My children went there too on field trips. I am sure my grandchildren will. Nice that this icecream factories (Magnolia, Nestle, Selecta) always keep their doors open to study trips. Makes for cross-generational memories.

  • I haven’t been there before since I grew up in the province. But I do remember going there, in the restaurant with my hubby when we were still dating. Back when it used to be more spacious. Love the ice cream too, :)

Hi Julie!
I love the food at Nestle Creamery. My kids’ school is just a few blocks away so sometimes we snack or I while away my time there. Imagine during Pat’s K1 field trip, diyan sila pumunta. Ang layo sobra haha.

Hi Toni,

There’s no more Nestle Creamery because they lot along E.Rod is now a condo community. I’m not sure if the new plant in Laguna allows field trips as of now.
