Every Saturday, member post photos based on a theme. The theme for this Saturday, September 22, 2007 is PAPER.

There are many ways to present paper. I have taken several photos of books in our collection, books that I use for teaching and display items made of paper such as lamps, small animals and other artworks but I decided to share something more personal today. And here are my paper photos below:

paper2.jpg

Two of the few times my name appeared on paper, as in newspaper. These are two of the major spreadsheets in the Philippines.

The one on the right was when I got my name published along with tens of thousands of names for passing the Licensure Exams for Teachers last 2005.

The one on the left was about an article on Mothers who blog. This was written by Cathy Babao-Guballa. In the article are five other mothers who blog. They are Connie, Luisa, Annamanila, Lisa and Noemi. Most of them are with the e-zine called PinoyMomsNetwork that Connie created where I am a member/contributor/writer.

Scissors, Glue, and Concepts Drills. Click here for info about the book.

The boy above is RB, a student. The boy below is Julian, my son. This was taken during their Social Language and Conversation dyad session. We just had “Listening to follow verbal instructions” drill and in the photos they are coloring in the pictures we used in the drill.

Road trip

This is my 4yo daughter Tania’s drawing. The drawing depicts us going somewhere with mountains, which they enjoy when we have our road trips.

My family

img_6693b.jpg

This is my 4yo daughter Tania’s drawing about our family. From L-R are Trixie, Julian, Tania, myself and my husband. That silver square thing there? That’s the camera. We don’t have flowers in the small patch we call our “garden” but Tania knows I love to take photos of flowers, :)

Hi Julie! It’s great that you were able to save a copy of those memorable pages of the newspaper.

Thanks for sharing the art works of your children. Very creative young ones.

I’m impressed by Tania’s beautiful drawings. She draws very well for her age.

My wife is an early childhood teacher and I have two young kids. Those years of colouring were a fantastic experience for me. We have many of their creations stored away in boxes.

I used to visit the Philippines for work when I was based in Singapore and lived in Palawan for a year in the 1980s.

When I began school, we were never allowed to use paper. We used small slates which could be cleaned off after use. How things have changed.

Without paper we wouldn’t have these precious drawings by our children. Thanks for stopping by Pollywog Creek this weekend while I was gone. Just let me know what you would like for me to pray about, and I would be happy to pray for you anytime you need it, Julie - even if I am not at a retreat. Hope your week is perfectly delightful.

[…] In light of this topic, I want to acknowledge the “friendship awards” I got from two bloggers. One is from Teacher Julie who’s been using the very first WP theme I made (that I’ve been wanting to update but I’ve got no time) and whose blog was featured in the newspaper a few months ago (I actually have a copy of this Philippine Daily Inquirer. Thanks Romzkee for giving it to me!). She included me in her list of virtual friends to whom she passed the first class friendship award and described me as “my blog theme designer whom I have not met (yet) in person but I feel connected to, in more ways than one.” *Sniff sniff* Please pass the tissue!
