Yes, sometimes I work on Sundays, if the need is great. By need I mean my students have quarterly/periodical tests starting on a Monday so we need to meet to study for the tests. Tomorrow, Sunday, I have work in my other workplace. But this is unusual because I usually work weekends which includes Sundays in the workplace that I own/operate, my small tutorials room in my MIL’s place.

So why do I have to go today? The student has been referred for a Special Education Home Program by a developmental pediatrician. It is quite impossible for them to come to the center for sessions since they live far, up north in a province called Isabela. Isabela province is far, about 320+ kilometers from Metro Manila where we live.

So what am I supposed to do? Do an evaluation of the skills of the student to be able to make a Special Education Home Program suited to answer his/her learning needs.

Here is an old photo we took when we went to see the Magat Dam in Isabela two years ago for a Holy Week vacation:

You’re a gem. Teacher Julie. I just hope your students and their parents know how fortunate they are to have you as a teacher.

  • Thanks, Kim. As I have told Tina, sometimes I feel like I’m a doctor when I am “on call”. :D

  • Thanks, Cess. I have been doing this for years already though it was more frequent then than now. Had had students from Pampanga, San Pablo, Isabela too. The last remark, “aray ko!” :)
