It used to be that venues for receptions of big events are a few and far in between. Back when I was younger living in the province, wedding receptions can be held on the streets in front of the house of one of the couple. They would put up a mini-reception of sorts, with four wall borders using big coconut leaves. Tables and seats would be placed near the “walls”. There’s a roof too to protect the revelers from heat or maybe rain. In the big city, there are big restaurants and hotels that cater to these needs. Now, choosing a venue for a big event is not a big problem anymore. There are garden settings with waterfalls and fiberglass roofs, function rooms, venues like the La Jolla banquet room, hotels, and other settings that cater to the taste, budget, location and theme of the special event. Now, planning events like this is easy since there are lots of choices to choose from. Why there are even people who would plan your party for you, but that is another story.
