Angel and Mitch, both my PMN friends, tagged me to do this meme:
Ten Random Facts About my Mom.
My mother, my Mama is a wonderful person.
- She loves us very much: my father, me, my brother, my husband, and the grandchildren of course. She and my father worked hard to provide for our needs and more. She never spoiled me even if I was the only child for more than 12 years.
- She easily cries. Commercials. Dramatic TV series or movies. Sad thoughts. Long-forgotten memories. Happy moments. She can cry a bucket if she wouldn’t stop. I got that from her, by the way.
- She can be “mataray” but she can speak gentle and comforting words too.
- She is trusting. We always tell her to not believe everything others say. Maybe because she believes there is something good in every person so she gives everyone the benefit of the doubt.
- She is a Methodist. We were brought up in the Methodist way, a Christian way. Even if my brother and I were swamped with Catholic teachings daily during the rest of our elementary and high school years, I could not remember her saying anything negative about the RC. Well, except when she got angry at the Irish priest who was a school director for refusing to include me in the honor roll because I was not RC. She firmly believes in the power of prayer.
- She loves to eat vegetables. Growing up near the farm that my grandfather tilled, she and her siblings used to eat freshly picked vegetables. She does not drink nor smoke. She drinks her milk everyday.
- She is an independent-minded person. When she and my Papa got married, they rented a house so they can live independently, away but not far from both their families. She encouraged me and my brother to do things on our own without relying help from others.
- It used to be that my father is the cook in the house. But since my Papa got sick (he is better now, thank God), it was my Mama who does the cooking now. Sorry, Ma, but Papa cooks better.
- She is tireless. Cleaning up, wiping, scrubbing, disinfecting, sweeping. One wouldn’t believe that the spotless and white sink has been the only sink we have since we moved to our house more than 30 years ago. She has an energy that would put younger people to shame. That would include me.
- People love her. No, she is not as popular as the next person running for a barangay post but people love her. They call her”Ate Gie”.
I am tagging my brother Ricky, Sasha and ShielaMarie. Go and bring out those wonderful memories and write about these. Hope you have fun. I did.
