Today is the fourth death anniversary of my father-in-law, Daddy B. When he was in the hospital where he stayed for more than a month, we were always there to visit him. And until he had his last breath, all his sons, daughters, in-laws and close relatives were at his bedside. He refused to go, holding on to dear life, maybe because he hasn’t seen his grandchildren since they were not allowed inside the hospital. He was just content at looking at them on the small screen of the digital camera which has their photos. When my mother-in-law told him, assured him, that she will take care of the family, telling him the two youngest children would finish their studies, he breathe his last breath. He died with tears falling down his cheeks. At 3 o’clock in the afternoon. Bittersweet memories linger, some funny, some heartwarming, and some just simply wonderful. Life lessons taught and hopefully learned were some of the wonderful legacy he gave to his family.
He has a legacy that continues to thrive, not just within family members but within a community of students coming together to learn. He left this behind:
Yes, he used to be a parish priest. He used to serve the Baclayon Church before he gave up his vow. He was given a Papal Dispensation after that. No longer a priest but he can still administer some blessings in case of emergency cases.
