I think I have already written a post about this wonderful site: Project Gutenberg. Do check out the site and enjoy countless titles which, according to an article I have read a few months back, are slowly being removed from public libraries. Why? Simply because these timeless classics have not been borrowed and have been gathering dust in their shelves. How sad. Click here for the catalog.
Let’s see how many titles you can download and read…

Ang galing talaga ng Project Gutenberg. It is also fascinating how the books are reproduced into eBooks. The old books are scanned and the scanned pages are converted into text using Optical Character Recognition, but since the books are usually blurry and OCR is not infallible, volunteer proofreaders go over the conversions and compare them with the original scanned pages to make sure the text is accurate. My husband and I used to volunteer about 4 years ago, hehe. You can read more here > http://www.pgdp.net/c/

  • Wow, Christianne, that’s a very noble thing to do! I admire you for that. You are right, some text are converted differently, like a d is sometimes read as cl.Have those funny sentences in some of my downloaded and more recent publications, :)
