Tina tagged me in an interesting meme. I must admit this is my first time to join a tag. I often “ignored” doing this but now I decided to give it a shot. In this tag, you are to name seven songs that you are currently listening to and tag seven other people.

We have an eclectic selection. The children like to listen to instrumental songs from the SIMS Makin’ Magic cd-rom. The selections are the nearest or next best thing we can get them to listen to classical music. DD1 can do some of the selections here on keyboards and flute. Hubby and I like to listen to jazz. I also like the oh-so-noisy rock with a lot of guitar adlib and New Wave. The current selections we are listening to are varied but these are the ones I really like. So here goes the songs and the CDs:

  1. James Taylor – Carolina on my Mind, Your Smiling Face, Mexico
  2. Steely Dan – Midnight Cruiser, Hey, Nineteen, Kid Charlemagne
  3. Jack Johnson – Drink the Water,
  4. DMB or Dave Matthews Band – Say Goodbye, When the World Ends
  5. Fastball – Flake, Out of my Head, Are You Ready for the Fallout
  6. The SIMS Makin’ Magic CD – sometimes I want to say yuck when the kids want to play the CD but there are times when we just hum the selections! This is a mix of clarinet, accordion, strings and other effects all rolled into one. DD1 even wants to have her own accordion! Told her to just be satisfied with the instruments in the KORG X5 that we have, which sounds almost the same as the real thing. She is the one who usually uses this, with big headphones on.
  7. My classical music CD. I know I have been neglecting playing this CD. Some of the CDs in the collection got lost somewhere. Sigh.

I’m tagging Annamanila, Mary, Ann, Angel, Andrea, Auee, Niceheart. Does it look like an alphabetical order from the PMN? :D Hope you find time for this tag. Please ignore if this tag has been sent to you. Thanks!

Hi Julie. Nice song selection. I’m fond of James Taylor too. I also like classical music from time to time because it helps bring a sense of calm to my senses.

  • We enjoy these songs nowadays. My husband is fond of oldies. When I was younger (HS and college) I really like noisy rock music, New Wave and alternative bands. :D

i can relate with your choice of James Taylor and classical music. they sooth the mind and the body, relaxing…

  • My husband likes oldies and is tuned in to RJ 100 every Sunday. I am amazed he can even sing the songs being played there. The kids too, like the classical-type or instrumental type of music.  Why, my DD1 is even asking for an accordion, as if she can carry that thing, LOL.

Hi Julie,
Thanks for tagging me. I’ll make time for this, I promise.
Incidentally, James Taylor is a favorite of my DH. In fact he sings like him! ;)

  • Wow, so that’s why he likes JT. We have a DVD concert too of JT and a host of other artist like him. :)

Hi Julie.

Thanks for tagging me. I don’t listen much to CDs. Lagi kasing nakabukas ang TV. :) And I’m not really up to date with the current songs. Except for a few. I think I’m stuck in the 80s. So when I do want to listen to music, I’d pop in my selections from the 80s, such as The Air Supply, Barry Manilow, Basil Valdez, etc.

  • We usually listen to music when we are in the car. Otherwise, it is all TV too. Good thing the kids like DVD with lots of songs in it.

Hi Teacher Julie,
Thank you for your time for this meme. Sorry haven’t visited much lately, my daughter loves James Taylor’s Smiling Face and sometimes she will want me to put it on repeat 4 times.

  • This is my first, Tina. I am about to email you the other day, ask how you were because you weren’t updating. You were busy spring cleaning and I just hope I will have the time and energy to do that, :D Spring or no spring, the house definitely needs sprucing and scrubbing.
