My son had his worst asthma attack ever last Wednesday, January 3, 2007. We were expecting this because the whole  of Mega Manila looked like a war-zone before, during and after the New Year celebration marked by a whole lotta firecrackers.

When we went for a check-up, we were advised by the doctor to go to the admitting section because he was wheezing so bad, his lips were pale and his toes and fingers were numb and cold. Oxygen was pumped into him from the time we went to his room until Thursday night. We stayed in the hospital until Friday. Good that it was a children’s hospital and the staff are cheerful as well as friendly. I thought I could breathe a sigh of relief when we got home. But…

We went home Friday around noon time. When he was settled down, I logged on to update this blog. What do you know, my site was gone! It has been hacked. I was so frantic I didn’t know what to do. Since Brian already went to his office, I waited for a few minutes to call him. In my desperation, I could not even remember his office number. I dialed incorrectly twice until I got it correctly.

Anyway, I sent an sms to ND who owns the web hosting company where I got my domain, she said backup will be uploaded asap. I sent her again an sms around 7pm and she said after two hours. The site came back on around 10pm. I lost two or three new entries about the 100th anniversary of Montessori and Barefoot Teachers. I was able to settle down and have a good night sleep after spending two nights and three days in the hospital.  Hubby did a backup of all the files when I went to sleep. I will now try to reconstruct what I wrote in the two article that got lost in that incident.

What a way to start the year!

[...] Yup, I know, celebrating the coming of a new year should be fun but I am a little pessimistic about this celebration. Last year, the smoke coming from the revelry of firecrackers was so bad that my son Julian ended up being in a hospital due to a severe asthma attack. [...]
