Eroticized adolescents? Quite a mouthful.

What does it mean, really? This has been coined in reference to girls in elementary and early teenage years (or middle school years).

When they were still growing up, extreme measure were taken to make sure that they are safe: homes were child-proofed, vaccines were given, helmets and kneepads used, etc.

How come when they are in double-digit age, or sometimes even younger, we allow them to listen to and watch boy-toy sexuality culture to invade their personality. They dress up in clothes designed for adults: skimpy, short, beaded, glittery, straps. They listen to songs, watch MTV, sing and dance to songs whose words are way beyond their understanding. They dance like older women do on stage to entertain men.

Shelved under Bits and Pieces, My Thoughts

Christmas 2006 has passed. Gifts have already been opened, laughter has died down, food consumed and almost everything else related to Christmas is winding down. Some people reflect on how Christmas was celebrated, what they should have done to make it better, what they have missed doing and what they overdid. Some people are starting to plan ahead how they will celebrate and welcome the New Year.

But have we ever thought or reflect about how we were as persons during the past months, in this year that is about to end? Can we honestly say that we did our best in our decisions, actions and endeavors? Do we admit to ourselves that indeed, we had had lapsed judgments, unfavorable decisions and actions that we regret doing? Do we sometimes think along these lines, “If only…” or “Maybe if I…”?

Another year is about to unfold before us. Perhaps it is best that we examine ourselves and really know the purpose of our existence. If we do that then perhaps we might be better persons and in our own little ways, make this world a better place not just for us but for others as well.

Tania celebrated her 4th birthday last Saturday, December 23. She was very happy. Here is a picture of her cake with its marshmallow frosting.

We even had a tarpaulin greeting made for her to make her feel more special.

Happy Birthday Little Tania!

Yes, we need to survive this season. We have to keep our senses and wits. Christmas should be a time for people to relax and enjoy the holidays. Due to changing times, Christmas is now a time for stress: shopping, spending, partying. Kinda hard on the budget as well as on the spirit and body. Here are a few ways to survive the Christmas season. Late though, as it is, we can try to do better next year, just as we always tell ourselves. Please click here and read the article.

Shelved under My Family, On the Road, Snapshots

Yesterday, we went to Enchanted Kingdom. We were apprehensive at first because there was a heavy downpour before 12 noon until around 1pm. But we still proceeded because we are committed to go there with co-workers.

The kids were ecstatic and they had a wonderful time. It seemed that they were rather bored with the kiddie rides. It was quite surprising to know that they were fearless to ride the Roller Skater and the Wheel of Fate.

Kuya liked the Rialto and even demonstrated how it was. Bunso almost had a tantrum when when she wasn’t able to ride the Bump Cars because of her height. Ate got her wish to do the Log Jam with hubby. They didn’t get wet though because they put on a raincoat! The little ones enjoyed the musical by the Trumpets production which was shown when it was starting to drizzle.

Well, that is the title of the article I have read about a study done regarding teen behavior. It talks about teens doing things that will not give them any benefits except being accepted by peers and problems in the long run: examples are drugs, unprotected sex, drinking and driving. Though the study states that teens often think about the consequences of these actions, peer acceptance outweigh the risks and they are swayed along.
