Shelved under Bits and Pieces, My Family

My son just loves Initial D.

Click here for the wikipedia definition.

Anime is anime. It is basically adult cartoons and shows some “scenes not suitable for young audiences so parental guidance is adviced.” He doesn’t look or he fast forwards scenes when girls appear on the scene, as per my instructions. The girls there are sometimes wearing miniskirts and they are the subjects of affection of the boys so there are some mild flirtations which my 4.10 year old son is not supposed to see.

He so loves the series that he has memorized the different stages in the series. He calls the cars by their engine names. Whenever he sees a Toyota Corolla just like ours, he calls it AE101.

Whenever he sees those Honda Civic Hatchback cars, he calls them EG-6.

He calls the Mazda RX-7, FD3S or FC3S.

He calls the Trueno AE86 or AE atchuk (not sure though if this is how it is spelled or pronounced).

SW20? That’s Toyota MR2.

He calls Nissan 240  Nissan Sil-eighty.

S13? That’s Nissan Silvia.

R32? That’s Nissan Skyline.

It’s amazing how he knows how to identify these cars but then, maybe not because he watches the DVD almost daily. Me? How do I know these terms? He is beside me and telling me the details.

By the way, he has a collection of these cars. Tomica brand. Jada Toys brand. Import Tuner brand. He also has folders of Google images of these cars and more (Need For Speed Hot Pursuit2 and Underground2) which he copied from the net and pasted in the folders. By himself.

He can’t wait for his July birthday to arrive so he can open his FD3S car. After he eats a slice of our birthday cake. His ideas, not mine.

[...] Several weeks ago, I wrote a post about cars here, emphasizing on the color silver. Our family is fond of going to car shows. The children collect cars and they do not settle for those out of this world designs but get the real car designs. My son can name the different makes of his favorite cars and even calls these by their engine names. [...]
